No, you do not need a receiver for the soundbar. You can connect your TV directly to the unit by HDMI or optical cable. The ARC/HDMI input is highly recommended so that your unit can sync with your TV. Thanks!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Nah, in fact the whole concept of Soundbars is so you can avoid buying a receiver + speakers in the first place haha. At first I was leaning towards an A/V receiver. But with space at a premium for me, and not having a strong desire for surround sound, I got the HT-CT780 and it just took the 2 channel stereo sound I wanted and made it sound a lot better. That said, it does have 3 HDMI inputs, one of which is HDCP 2.2 (aka. will be compatible with 4K Ultra-HD Blu Rays and the like when those come out)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Simple answer is no. The sound bar is not a receiver but it doesn't need a receiver either. Geek Squad says I couldn't pick up radio stations but I can get radio if I connect my computer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You do not need a Receiver for any Sound bar. You just need a TV with a digital optical audio output, and a sound bar with a digital optical audio input. With a Digital optical audio cord connected to both sources you can control your sound bar.
