Hi Paul, Thank you for your question. You can place the TV in a covered patio as long as the screen is not exposed to direct illumination or sunlight to get the best picture quality. The TV is designed to perform to its full potential indoors. Exposing the TV to rain or moisture, direct illumination, or sunlight may cause damage. For safety reasons and to prevent the TV from malfunctioning its recommended operating temperature is: 0 ºC – 40 ºC / 32˚F - 104˚F. Regards, Jess
