Most of the current Sony TVs can be connected to your home Network connection using an Ethernet (wired) connection or using the built-in Wi-Fi feature. Connecting the TV to your High-speed Internet Network provides access to Internet service or apps for streaming videos or for watching special interest programs, downloading on-demand movies, or playing games. Google/Android TVs, are powered by an Android Operating System (OS) which provides several advantages. Android TVs have been included as part of Sony’s TV line-up since 2015, and the Google TVs were introduced in 2021. The good news is that you can use this TV without connecting to the internet if you will use it and watch cable TV or external device (HDMI devices). You can choose Basic TV when you set up your Google TV. Only pre-installed apps on your TV are available and you can't install other apps. To get the latest software updates and the best smart features experience, you will need to connect the TV to an internet connection. If you're going to use the streaming applications, then you may need to connect it to a network. If you want to install other apps, you need to log in to your Google account and switch from basic TV to Google TV. Hope this helps. Regards, Jess
