“Is a center placed stand available rather than the 2 forked legs on the outside?”

I don't think so, b/c the back of the TV has sections built in for the legs to slide into. It can be wall mounted, but it doesn't come with a center placed stand. I like the 2 forked legs -- it gives the TV good balance and I can slide a small DVD player into that space under the TV screen :-)

I doubt it, I have never heard of any such options on TVs, either they come with it or not. My last Sony came with a center stand, I much prefer it, not sure why so few TVs have them.
