“How does the unit work I have a reel to reel tape deck can I plug into the recorder from the tape deck also can I monitor with a set of headphones to listen while I record. Will this unit do this? Thank you Robert I will buy as soon as I find out.”

No. The Sony CDP-CE500 CD Changer can’t record from your cassette deck. The Sony CD Changer does not feature any input jack to connect your cassette deck. The Sony CD Changer does not feature a headphone jack. The Sony CD Changer does not record to CD. Sorry. Good Luck.

This 5 Disk CD/changer is designed to connect to an A/V receiver and play CDs through your existing Home Theater System. It will not unfortunately record to MP3 from anything other than a CD in the player. The CDPCE500 Has a 5 CD Carousel Tray. You can play from any of the 5 CDs in the tray creating the playlist of your choice and save it to a USB flash Drive! The recorder does not Burn CDs.
