“I am debating getting the kit 16-55mm retractable lens or this prime lens. Is this lens retractable or is it only able to shoot at 50mm? I would prefer the lens to be able to zoom in for landscape pictures as I am doing a Pacific Northwest trip soon.”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Prime means it is only that number and no zooming. Well, you can zoom with your feet. :) No zooming means nothing to retract.It can only to 50mm. With the crop factor of 1.5 it's equivalent to 75mm which is good for landscape. If you plan on using the timer and taking self portraits on your trip just be aware you'll need that camera somewhere around 8-12 feet in front of you. Prime lenses tend to have superior attributes because they have one job to do and are designed to do it well.
