A:AnswerHi, Bob1! Yes, it is compatible but with a restriction (Fast Hybrid AF is available with the lens system software Ver.02 or later). You may find this link helpful in selecting the best lens for a particular subject:

A:AnswerTL;DR: Get the 16mm - 200mm
18-200 is a little bit pricier but you specified in your question being able to go without having to switch lenses.
I gonna advise best I can in lay terms here and talk about the golden trio in event photography which does range in need for a given shot.
then I'll give my reason for the suggestion
For a wide angle, you want a lower mm at 16mm standing in a doorway taking a shot in a standard event sized dining room you're going to see the ceiling floor opposite wall and both walls to your sides. Approx. Room factors apply here but try to picture it.
Take the same shot same location with a 50mm you might see only a large dance floor in the full frame and maybe all of the back wall.
At 200mm well id try to be about 16 to 20 feet away and it would look like you were 5 feet away from your subject using a 50mm.
When I'm doing very close up beauty shots or taking wide-angle shots for a decorated room. I put on my 16-55mm Lens (so I can get real close and fill the frame with head and shoulders or bust)
For macro work, I use a 50mm prime (for Boca reasons everyone should own one of these trust me it that low 1.8 Fstop that lets you make people look stunning)
And in the moment when running around during events, "So I don't have to actually run to get closer for a shot all the 'action work' I do." Goes to my 55-200
I could have bought the 16-200 you've questioned and honestly only had the one lens cover what I have two lenses for. 16mm - 200mm and I wouldn't have NEEDED the 16-55mm and a 55-210 to cover that part of My Golden Trio. I'd have had a duo which i have recommended both in this answer for you.
Have a great day

A:AnswerIt has the correct mount although I believe the A7 is full frame. I use the 6500 which is a Exmor CMOS sensor (not full frame) so in short to answer your question you’ll have to use crop setting when using this lens or post edit and crop the photos after. The light coming through the lens won’t cover the sensor entirely. I highly suggest buying a full frame lens if you have a full frame camera. Even I’ll buy full frame lenses for my crop senor camera. Knowing I’ll eventually upgrade my camera the plan is to stay with Sony. And full frame would be the upgrade for my camera series.

A:AnswerDepends on the type of pictures you take. If you take pictures of distant objects, such as wildlife, the extra zoom of the 200mm would help to capture a larger image of the bird/animal than the 135mm of your current lens. If you are shooting close objects such as people or landscapes you would not get much use out of the additional focal length .
A:AnswerHi Ily17, Yes. SEL55210 lens is fully compatible with Sony α5000: http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/accessories/compatibility.php?area=gb&lang=en&mdl=SEL55210&cat=3

A:AnswerHi BruceF, Yes. A lens hood helps block unwanted light when taking pictures where the camera is pointing towards a strong source of light. It is recommended to use a compatible Sony lens hood for this lens: http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/accessories/compatibility.php?area=gb&lang=en&mdl=SEL55210&cat=53
