“720p I have installed this new TV and connected it to a Verizon Fios set top box via a HMDI cable. When we turn the TV on, the header which appears displays that we are watching in 720p, even though the channel is live full HD. Our Sony KDL 55HX729 in another room, connected to a Fios box displays in 1080p. Is the new TV connected wrong? Is there something wrong with the settings? or could it be the Fios box? Thanks for any help you might provide”

Check your fios box settings. I bet it is set to auto resolution output which may select wrong resolution. Are you a hundred percent sure that that show is in full HD?

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would assume it is your box. Mine displays 2160p when watching 4k content off Netflix. Try Netflix or Amazon Prime and see if you get 1080p off hd stream,if you do then issue is your box or even the cable.

If it does not have an HD digital tuner, you will need to rent a digital set-top box that is capable of receiving an HD signal from your cable or satellite service provider. Also, to fully appreciate the enhanced picture quality HD offers, the television should have a native resolution of at least 720p or 1080i.
