• Apple TV will definitely work since all you need is an HDMI. I would recommend getting the newer Apple TV with 4K added.

• Hi Grm45, Yes, it should work. However, please check the specifications of the third-party device if it has HDMI-CEC control feature which will allow the device remote to control the TV. Thanks! ^Ron
