I have the A9G and tried using the TV as my center speaker with my surround sound system. Yes, there are discrete wire connectors on the back of the TV that are used specifically to enable this feature. There is also a setting in the TV sound menu to select the function as well. After doing this on my system I found that there was a slight lag between the TV and the rest of the speakers which created a echo-like delay. I have a Pioneer SC-LX701 Receiver so it's not that I am using an outdated system. I ended up going back to using my original center speaker.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I found on my system that besides just connecting as you refer, you need to have this in your setup on your Sony TV and also your Receiver. I got a Pioneer Elite and struggled bad until I figured out I needed to have It's front pannel settings correct. Took long time of trial and error....
