“I am in need of replacing a Sony XBR tv that I purchased almost 5 years ago due to the mother board overheating. Will this still be a problem with newer Sony televisions? I am very upset that I need to replace a tv less than 5 years old.”

Hi Yensid80, No, we make sure that the television passed the environmental test and quality inspection prior to releasing it to the market. However, we have to take note of the following items to avoid some issues and to ensure reliable operation of the TV and to protect it from overheating. - Do not block or cover the ventilation openings with cloth or other materials. - Never place the TV on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface where ventilation openings may be blocked. - Unless proper ventilation is provided, the TV may accumulate dust and cause damage. - Never allow liquids or solid objects to fall into the ventilation openings. - If any liquid or solid object falls inside the TV, unplug the TV immediately and have it checked by qualified service personnel before operating it further. - Never push objects of any kind into the TV through the ventilation openings as they may come in contact with dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could result in a fire or an electric shock. - Allow adequate space around the TV set to ensure proper air circulation. - Never place the TV in a confined space, such as a bookcase or built-in cabinet, unless proper ventilation is provided. - Do not place optional equipment on top of the TV.
