LCD is the way to go for bright rooms, yes. OLED (or plasma in the Good Old Days of 4 years ago) look better in darker rooms. As for the volume control, I don't know exactly, as the TV is being installed later today. But I can strongly speculate that separate background/voice volume control is not a feature of this TV, or any TV most likely. These flat panels have gorgeous displays, but because they're so thin, their audio is terrible. I've heard (and heard in the store) that this TV has better audio than most. Sony in general has better audio, I guess from sacrificing a little size. The control you speak of *is* a feature of a lot of soundbars. If you are looking to boost the dialog (I'm guessing you listened to too much loud music when you were young, as did I ;) ) you will *most* definitely want to buy a soundbar. It makes all the difference in the world. Best Buy had a deal on a terrific $900 Sony soundbar for $600 when you bought this TV. Bose, Sonos and Polk also make great products. But you need to listen to them in the store first. Nothing is more subjective and personal than taste in audio. The specs (and cost) really don't matter at all!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have the tv in a bright room with a lot of windows and the picture is great, ALso the viewing angle is not a problem, much better than a 58 inch Samsung that I had also purchased and returned. We bought this instead of the LG OLED specifically because the SONY is better for bright rooms and also is not susceptible to "burn in". Can't answer the audio question.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Do not rely on internet reviews. Visit BEST BUY stores and ask their staff to provide you with answers after you read SPECIFICATIONS online for the model in question.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Very happy with the picture quality even with significant daylight. Can’t answer the second question as we have a Sonos sound system, which is fantastic.
