QuestionIs this soundbar worth it without the subwoofer ? I have the chance to get one for 450 $ but the subwoofer is broken. Is the soundbar worth as a standalone ? Should I get this one or a Bose 700 or a sonos arc? This being a standalone soundbar ?

QuestionWill this work with my new Sony 65” A9G Master Series OLED 4K UHD TVModel XBR65A9G. Will I need any additional wiring for connection? I am looking for something with good sound but easy to set up.

- Answer Hi Michele, Thanks for inquiring about the Soundbar. They’ll work beautifully together. You can connect your TV via HDMI input jack with an HDMI cable. The system is compatible with eARC and ARC. ARC is the function that sends TV sound to an AV device such as the system from the TV’s HDMI jack.. Also, the unit has Analog In and 3 HDMI IN. With your ST5000 Soundbar, you’ll be able to maintain quality from source to screen with a 4K HDR signal pass-through that delivers exceptional detail, color and contrast. QuestionI have lots of subwoofer Static, sounds horrible most of the time. Could be interference from other devices in the home? This was professionally installed, Also when attempting to access the HOME Screen, it does not appear on TV, any help here also?

- Answer Hi JAYMIELATL, this is definitely not the news that we would like to hear. Resetting the unit may help resolve both issues (refer to page 71): https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4687/bc8f6dee4fbbe142db7bc707e9028061/46878381M.pdf. If they can’t get the Home Menu screen to pop up in order to access the firmware update, we can suggest the reset method of pressing and holding down the Power and Vol (-) buttons too. We would also recommend that you update the sound bar to the latest firmware which can be done via the internet or USB. Lastly I would suggest moving your wifi device away from the sound bar/subwoofer to reduce interference. Hopefully that will fix the issue for them. And, the 7.1.2 speaker channels completely envelop you in sound, even from above. 800W of power and 2 levels of vocal enhancement will ensure you don’t miss a moment of your content. For equalizer, the ST5000 features customizable speaker settings. You can adjust the gain in the setup menu. In the home menu go to setup>Speaker Settings>Level and you can set the level for your front speakers, Height speakers, and subwoofer. QuestionI know Sony say you can buy the rear speakers ( the Sony ones ) but the question is, will they play the surround sound and the Dolby atmos sound so that they will be for instance work like the Samsung soundbar with the 2 rear speakers. Cheers

- Answer As far as I know, you cannot add additional rear speakers to this unit. They are available on the 5.1 Sony sound bar. This sound bar uses upward facing speakers to bounce the rear effect off of the ceiling.

- Answer You can play both at the same time but you won't want to for risk of an echo. This soundbar is not designed that way. You need a passive soundbar to truly achieve what you are asking about. As for the splitter question not sure what you are trying to achieve by doing this, but I wouldn't recommend it.

- Answer Per the manual on page 36-37, it is possible to have the sound bar transmit via Bluetooth to a pair of Bluetooth headphones or a Bluetooth speaker. However, when you do that, no sound is output through the sound bar speakers, only the connected Bluetooth headphone/speaker, so it would not technically be a multi-room output. Hope that helps.

QuestionI currently have this connected via a digital optical cable. It's a decent brand but the sound isn't very loud. Would I be better of using an HDMI cable to the hdmi port with ARC? I have 4 hdmi ports on my Sony 900E. I was told the first port was crap.
