I didn't get the warranty. No particular reason other than the price.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. With the experience I just went thru, I would suggest getting the 5 year warranty if you can. The reason being, in Feb 2015 we bought a 79 inch Sony. The picture went bad last month and, according to the Geek squad, the tv needed to be replaced. We only had it for 2 1/2 years. If we only bought the two year plan, the warranty would have not been valid. We did purchase the 5 year warranty on the replacement tv.. Also, just fyi, the warranty will cover what the current value of the tv when/if it goes out. Even though we paid $8,000 for the tv back in 2015, the tv was valued at $3,500 last month so we had to get a tv that was priced at that amount or less. Of course we could have paid the difference for a bigger tv, but we would also have had to pay the tax. Purchasing the warranty is like any other insurance. You don't know if you will ever need it, but if you do need it, you are glad you had it. I don't normally purchase a warranty, but I was glad I did this time.
