That was my biggest delay in finalizing my purchase decision. The answer is an absolute YES! Full array dimming means that blacks are BLACK, you don’t get dilutions when a dark area is right next to a very bright one. My logical argument with myself at the end was simple - you’ve decided on the 75” HDR Sony display, you are already in for a significant investment, why skimp out on the last BIG picture quality feature at the finish line, only to regret it later. This screen in amazing. Get it. Our living room setup places the screen about 12’ away, and it’s a huge and immersive theatre-like experience at that distance. We replaced a 60” screen with this upgrade and the difference is incredible.

Much brighter, more vivid colors and way deeper blacks. The 850E is a good TV, but you may kick yourself for not spending the extra to move up to the 900E. Yes, there is that much of a difference and the extra $500 is well worth it. We sit roughly 15' from the TV. I wouldn't want to be much closer.

For instance, if you were to take a nighttime city scene, like NYC's skyline, freeze frame it on both screens, and then compare the lights in the tiny windows of buildings, there is a difference. Since I don't expect to buy another television for 5-10 years, I wanted the best picture that I could afford. My room is 18-15 and the tv is perfectly viewable from anywhere. The surround sound, however, is best when in a direct line with the center screen. As I often sit off to the side (the way the furniture is set up), the surround sound is not as effective.
