my sony bravia A80J remote was paired to my sony sound system by a geek squad tech. and works fine,but from time to time i find an app that i will have to use the remote that comes with the tv. also it might be as simple as the HDMI used for the sound system is in the wrong input! the owners manual for the sound system has to be in a specific HDMI INPUT. find the ARC.

If a BRAVIA Sync-compatible device (e.g., TV, Soundbar, Blu-ray player, AV receiver, etc.) is connected with an HDMI cable to soundbar, this enables you to interlock the speaker system operation such as power on/off or volume adjustment with a TV. Press the HOME button, then select [Settings] — [Watching TV] — [External inputs] — [BRAVIA Sync settings] — [BRAVIA Sync control]. Once you enabled the Control for HDMI (“BRAVIA” sync) function of the TV, the Control for HDMI function of the speaker system is also enabled automatically. When you turn on or off the TV, the speaker system will turn on or off automatically.
