My current (now broken) Blu-ray player has an optical audio out jack that sends surround sound to my receiver. My surround sound receiver does not have HDMI plugs. I want to replace with Blu-ray that sends HDMI to my TV and a separate 5.1 channel surround sound to my surround sound receiver”

• Yes it will transmit 5.1 using coaxial cable. I have my surround sound hooked up with a monster thx coaxial cable. Sound is great

• It does have an a digital output. HDMI and a digital RCA jack which I think is for connecting to a Playstation.

• YES.The coaxial out will work just fine, even better than the optical out.Optical may have some loss. I have it hooked up that way on a older SONY receiver and it sounds great.

• It should but if not try the component hook up (red, green. blue) that should work just fine. I have three Onkyo AV receivers with pass through HDMI and that is all I use.
