Not really, the tv has to choose what is the best for it and so if the tv has a weaker system the player will take over. However, the player has some new enhancements for color made by Sony so the player is a plus

Please try again later.Not sure all 4K TVs upscale 1080p HD to 4K !! .My Sharp AQUAS Q+ upscales but I would say with the Sony in stream, the display is even more outstanding, I think it must be double upscaling,it looks close to 4K . Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It looks like my SMART Sharp TV upscales anything sent to it, including upscaled 1080p from the Sony player. Streaming looks even better through the SMART Sony PLAYER than the SMART Sharp TV alone. It works well for me. Get good 4K HDMI cables. Very good player.
