(1) You can Change the angle of the built-in microphones manually according to the direction you want to record. Rotate both capsules of the built-in microphones to face the outside (120° position), to pick up on all voices in a group of about 10-12 people. The microphone on the right records sound from the right, the microphone on the left records sound from the left. You can obtain dynamic stereo sound recording, therefore this position is recommended for recording a sound source, such as a conference, a musical performance, etc. Refer to page # 33 of the manual in the below link for more details. http://www.docs.sony.com/release/ICDSX712.pdf (2) The IC Recorder ICDSX712 is not compatible with the Olympus ME-51S Stereo Microphone. The recommended external microphone is Sony ECM-CS10 electret condenser microphone (not supplied).
