How well does this camera take pictures with special effects, strobes, bright lights, etc? Does it adjust with no flash? I am also a novice so I use the auto modes a lot.”

This takes great pictures and picks up the lighting great without flash. I use the auto functions mostly as well. My 15yr old son uses the effects and has taken some great photos. Also, some concerts limit the type of cameras you can bring into the venues and this one qualifies and the zoom works great! I use the video function in low light or fast paced concerts, then take pictures from that. Eliminates blurry photos!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Bought this camera mainly to take concert shots because of the extended zoom range. Has yet to disappoint. Just practice a lot with lighting, timing and settings. The best photos are when the lighting is blue, purple, red or green. The bright whites always look washed out. I tend not to take shots of strobes. Special effects, yes. Flash pots are great - just take a lot of shots to get the one perfect shot. I have an extra battery ready and a higher speed memory card helps too. I have never used flash and have never had a problem. I have a Canon EOS 5-D and much prefer this camera.
