This camera takes awesome pictures and is very easy to use. Zoom lens is wonderful. It has a bunch of settings for things like fireworks, faces and action shots (see pic)The only thing I don't like is the lens cap. It is not attached with a string and it is hard to take off. It ends up popping out of your hand. I feel like I'm definitely going to lose it. Other than that, this is a great camera that gives you the quality of DSLR without having to carry a bunch of lenses.

Upgraded my Olympus camera to this one and could not be happier! The pictures come out amazing. With the eye-fi card, it makes transferring photos super easy. There are some slight learning curves but it is a great investment! My only complain is that the lens cap does not have a string attached to the camera so it might get lost eventually if you don't hold onto it.

I had cataract surgery a month ago. I bought this camera before driving from Alaska to Nevada. This camera is absolutely amazing in so many conditions. Crisp clarity from shooting from a moving vehicle shooting scenery, roaming animals, infrared night pictures, family face recognition & outstanding bird shots. This camera is also outstanding price point.

I had this camera for 4 weeks and 650 shots.The photos that I took were beautiful.We live in Florida.The sun is bright.I spend a great deal of time outside. shooting pictures I found it difficult finding a viewfinder and only the lcd screen that is WORTHLESS in bright sunlight.Going to Best Buy it seems that the manufacturers not just Sony but it seems all the manufacturers in there wisdom have done away with the viewfinder. This camera at night is great and an inside shots are beautiful.lo light shots shine. I take surfing shots so I need a viewfinder.So for a little more money went with a HX300V.over the hx50 a 30x zoom camera in the same price range... You get soooo many settings paint,miniture,watercolor,illistration toy camera which make for great effects. You get 25 or so settings for beach indoor pet food and on and on.The video is great and can be hooke up to your tv The lens....awesome 24 to 1200 mm...At full 1200 great moon shots shots ......across the river clear and crisp 1 or 2 miles...like wildlife shots click away....there is a learning curve to hold the camera steady at that distance... I cannot say enough good things about this camera....try it for a few weeks....I read that if you had a dslr and bought a 1200mm lens you would be in over 10000 dollars. Thats all I am just enthusiatic about where i can go with this camera....Have fun

I take photos one-handed as I film with video camcorder. I admit my photos are not Pulitzer quality, mostly I post them to Facebook so people can find and download them for their memories of an event. I had or still have the SONY HX9V, HX20V, RX100, and now the HX300V is the icing on the cake. I had my Canon T4i kit stolen from my truck. Now with the more compact HX300V, I can carry it all day or night, always at my side, safe & secure. I admit I am new to photography, but I have taken some awesome shots with the HX300V, even Video footage. Kids ballgames, surfers, pow wow dancers, panoramas, you can do it all in a sturdy, light weight unit. Purchase a second battery, and charge up both overnight before a day of shooting. One battery may not last all day, and you have to charge it inside the camera. This is only complaint I have.

This was a no-brainer for me. I upgraded from the 200V model, which sold me on the 30x zoom, for this model with the 50x zoom. All the functions and features are the same, so I didn't have to relearn the camera. It takes awesome macro and zoomed photos. I like the fact I can set it on the auto setting and get high quality pics. The built-in scene settings work very well, like soft skin, background defocus, etc. I kind of miss the attached lens cover from the old model but at least when I turn this camera on and forget to remove the lens cap, the lens can still extend. This camera is still small enough to be portable without all the extra lenses and gear a DSLR requires. I've been very happy with both models of camera.

THIS CAMERA IS VERY CLEAR, EASY TO USE AND THE PICTURES COMES OUT VERY NICE. I AM STILL LEARNING THE OTHER FEATURES. THE ONLY THING I WISH SONY HAD MADE AN ATTACHMENT SO THAT THE LENS CAP WAS ABLE TO BE ATTACHED TO THE CAMERA ITSELF.

This is just a point-and-shoot camera, but the results are really great. It seems like we're using a dslr. The picture quality is superb. A lot of our friends asked us what camera we were using on our recent trips and they thought we have a new dslr. :-) We really love it.

This camera is a super zoom point and shoot camera with a view finder. It has a very fast auto focus. In more difficult situations, you can switch to Manual Focus and use the zoom ring as a focus ring making it easier to get a shot other cameras may miss.

This is a real fantastic camera, I purchased it as a package deal about a month ago! The 50x zoom is amazing as well as the photo quality, even taking night photos using the flash. I like that it takes movies as well. I love the fact that I don't have to lug around a HUGE camera bag with all the lens attachments. The ONLY disappointment I have is that I hadn't purchased this camera a lot SOONER to have captured my child's graduation ceremony, grad party, nephews wedding and ALL other prior special occasions and events! But from here on out, I will be there, with my NEW CAMERA in hand, (out with the old, in with the new), so SMILE & say CHEESE!!!!

I love the 50X zoom because I take a lot of wild life pictures and if you are too close the animals don't hang around.

After 2 1/2 years with this camera, I am still enjoying it. It works very well in low light and I get great moon photos, hand held. I do find it a little hard to hold still on windy days and get best results with it on a tripod. It takes quick photos, not the delay I have experienced in some cameras. My biggest complaints are that the lens cap is a little hard to remove and the dial for the settings turns too easily.

The picture quality is great! It captures my family's every move!

This is my 3rd Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX model and I have had good, clear, sharp images with each of them from birds, butterflies to sunsets. The color is accurate and the camera allows for additional enhancements. The Model DSC-HX now offers a 50x zoom and the ability to screw on filters and close-up lens which is a great plus. The image stabilizer works great for the steady shot. When my friends see my photos, they always ask me what kind of a camera I use and I recommend it to them.

I take a lot of pictures of wild animals and it is very handy to have the extra zoom that this camera has. It is even great for macro photos.

One lens is equal to carrying around a 2 foot long lens, but also has good wide angle. Takes some playing to get the light settings/focus to do what you want. Silly BestBuy, this is a 20MP camera. Its images are 7 and 9MB and you have a 5MB limit, so the pix attached are not really representative.

Shot the Second picture from the beach at about 50 zoom. The other picture from about 5 feet. I am not a pro and no nothing about camera's but I'm doing pretty good. Love the Camera.

I bought this as the store closed and needed to use this at 7am the next day to photo my son in a 12 mile outdoor obstacle course race through mud, rivers, mountains, fire etc. I also wanted to video, and since I was very familiar with my video camera, I handed this off at 7am to my 15 yr old daughter to figure out how to use it and to take the still shots of my 18 yr old son in the race. With no manual, no instructions, no teaching from anyone, my daughter took the best pictures I have ever seen! If that is not a testimony for the camera! Easy to use. No too late, too soon, I missed the shot. All photos were spot on. Perfect timing. Sharp. Shots taken from 30 feet to 2000 feet away. My son jumped over a bonfire and my daughter caught him mid air at the height of his leap. Clear. No blur. You can see his shoe laces. She also took perfect shots of his at the top of a hill he climbed and she was over 1000 feet from the bottom of the hill. Looked like we were right there. No lens changing. Wide angle to long zoom. No blurring anywhere. Fantastic. It is a little large, but it actually is light. I shoot on the run, so I cannot lug extra lenses and cameras or cases. This also shoots video as good as my video camera, which is a Sony also. Expensive, but does a great job. Cheaper than buying extra lenses and still not having the zoom that his camera does. So in the long run, this is cheaper. That is, if you need to shoot from over 20 feet away, in my case 50, 100, 200, 2000 feet away.
