I have used that lens the 24-240 and I own the 70-300. They are both good lenses but the main thing to consider is what range you are trying to cover. I also own the 24-105 G lens so for me the 70-300 was the way to go. If you’re looking for a single lens to use I would recommend the 24-105 it’s what I have on my camera most of the time on vacation. I only switch to the 70-300 in situations where I can’t walk closer to the subject - like sports of wildlife. But if you have no lens right now and want to cover as much variety as possible the 24-240 is a good choice. Something also worth mentioning - the G isn’t just about the glass - it also has better focusing elements. Both the 24-105g and the 70-300g lock focus much faster than the 24-240 especially in low light.
