“I purchased the Sony 5.1 3D/blueray player surround sound system.The receiver most likely wont accept the 4K movies compatible with my 4K tv. Can I buy this one and use it in place of the receiver that came with blue ray set listed above? It’s sony too.”

I don't know for sure, but I think the receiver is just a "pass through" for video since the HDMI cable delivers both video and audio. This player does have an optical outlet for audio if your receiver has an input for it. Then you can go straight into your tv with the HDMI. That's how I have mine set up, but I have an older receiver that's pre-HD. I hope this helps.
