The shoe on the FDR-AX100/B does not let you connect anything to it directly unless it's a Sony accessory. You need to buy the "Sony ADP-MAC Multi-Interface Shoe Adapter" which will give you standard hot shoe conversion. About $20, just use a search engine and search for "FDR-AX100/B hot shoe". If you don't need a hot shoe, you can buy a cold shoe adapter (which is cheaper). About $10, just use a search engine and search for "FDR-AX100/B cold shoe". These would not be a Sony product but from third parties. So if you get either of these, you can attach any standard hot/cold shoe capable accessories, including the RODE mic.
