The player will auto-detect if a SACD is inserted. Depending on the SACD layers on the disk - some have SACD Stereo as well as Multi-channel - you will be able to select which SACD layer is played from one of the players options menus. I have never tried playing the redbook (CD) layer on an SACD which seems to be defeating the object of getting a higher res disk. The player does have Analogue Stereo RCA outputs - so you can play the SACD Stereo layer through these outputs if want. The player itself will perform the Digital to Analogue conversion to the RCA outputs. If you are looking for a multi-channel output then you will have the use the Digital HDMI output and the D to A conversion will be performed by your Receiver or whatever device you send the output to,
