    Way Better Than Panasonic UB9000

Had the UB9000 for about 2 weeks. It was horrible. Had so many limitations with it. Wouldn't even play a Dolby Atmos test file from Dolby Labs via USB, nor upconvert anything via USB to Dolby Vision or pass through virtually any formatted audio, including DTS or Dolby Digital. The Panasonic couldn't even play MKV files. Got the Sony X1100ES today. Immediately impact. Played any content I threw at it. Passed threw audio/video crystal clear, all audio formats pass successful. Finally a Bluray player to even passthrough and cooperate with eARC between my Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar and LG CX TV. Amazing player! I used to be an Oppo user. Don't fall for the Panasonic hype. Buy a Sony. Even have the X700 a $200 player and it beats the UB9000 in playing any content and passing through all audio formats from any sources.

Set up was quick and easy. Atmos and DTS-X sound awesome!! I have the sound and Pic going through an 8K HDMI cable into an Onkyo TX-RZ3100. I do not have a 4K TV yet (Will be buying a Sony 75” 950G soon), but it will play 4K Blu-rays on my old 2K Sony TV. I will write another review when I get the TV.

Having just purchased the Sony UBP-X1100ES blu-ray player, what can I say but WOW!! The picture and sound are Pristine!! Not a deal breaker for me that it doesn't automatically switch to Dolby Vision!! I see everyone making it a big deal but I'm fine with it! The player loads fast and it is SUPER quiet when playing a disc. It also has tons of features when it comes to tweaking the video and audio contents. Regarding the fact that it only comes with 3 apps, again not a deal breaker! To me, this product is first and foremost a blu-ray player and not a streaming machine! I use my Smart TV if I want to stream content and not the player. Sony? You have really outdone yourselves this time with this wonderful player and No One does it better than Sony!! If you want the Best that's out there, this doesn't get any better guys!!

I just got this player 2 days ago was skeptic on how it would work my Sony x800 m2 had a problem with locking up and having to unplug constantly very annoying .so far in the couple days I have had it. It plays everything I have . Although my gripe is probably what a lot of people are saying that when in Dolby vision set to on it outputs everything in Dolby vision I wish they would have had it so could switch automatic .the HDR and Dolby Vision picture performs clean and the sound seems better then the 800 m2 on my Sony STR DN1080 receiver with my Sony Z9f television it seems to take full advantage.

This is a really good 4K player. I needed it for 4K discs as my OPPO 105-D does not play 4K. It is fairly simple to use, easy to set up and generally works well. I have had only one hiccup with this unit: While watching "1917", at 47 minutes and 41 seconds into the movie, it froze and I had to re-start the movie. I re-started the movie just before the freeze time and it played through the freeze point with no problem. Don't know if it was a problem with the Blu-ray disc or the player. Only happened once and has worked fine since. Have used it to watch the 4K versions of the entire "Harry Potter" stuff, the extended versions of the "Lord of the Ring" shows, all of them, everything Star Wars and a couple of the "Jumanji" movies. Only this one issue. If it wasn't for this one thing, I would rate it 5 stars.

After getting a 4K tv, 73x950h, I needed to get a 4K Blue ray player! My old player was a Oppo 103. The Oppo was great but not 4K. This new Sony is fantastic. The Sony is a little slow to turn on and load. Wish the display was a little bigger but at least there is one. The Sony remote is nothing special but that doesn’t really matter as I am using a Logitech universal remote. I was thinking a need to get the 4K version of some of the Blue Rays in my collection. The upconvert really made the non 4K movies looked like 4K! The only other negative is the player doesn’t automatically switch to Dolby Vision. You need to dig into the settings to change. Solid build on this unit.

what a time to be alive when front displays on a $600 player is a premium feature!! Besides that, the unit delivers excellent picture and sound quality. so far I havent had any issues with discs freezing or stalling. sure it has inconveniences - no auto detection of hdr, basic non backlit remote, but, they dont bother me. people that complain about it having bare bones for streaming options are buying this for the wrong reason. every d*mn tv has streaming capabilities built in and are probably implemented better on the tv than on this player.

I needed to upgrade from the ubpx800. After reading reviews comparing this model to the ubpx800m2., i decided on this model. It is double the price, but i think worth it. Reviewers said that the differences were in audio outputs and a display timer on the front. However, a respected youtuber said that it has a different chipset similar to the high end oppo and panasonic models. I can see that there is a positive difference in picture quality comparing it to the x800. I know it has issues with lack of auto detecting dolby vision, but if you have a sony tv and receiver, this is the player to get. There is a lack of streaming apps, ao id recommend you use the tv or apple tv to utilize those

Gives new life to DVD movies and TV shows with the upscale enhancements it provides. We notice that Bly-Ray movies look more vibrant as compared to our older Panasonic Blu Ray player. Blu-Ray and DVD disks load reasonably fast. The player is wire-connected to our Router. Netflix, Amazon and YouTube apps are very responsive on load and play times. All three apps play the HD app services as well as using a Blu-Ray disk.

For the longest time I would simply use my PlayStation 4 for my Blu-ray player. More recently I upgraded my TV to the 950H and to the PlayStation 5 digital. I decided to go with Sony's top-of-the-line Blu-ray player because of all the good reviews and I wasn't disappointed. The unit is responsive, quiet, has great video fidelity, and amazing audio for my Z9F sound bar. You can't get this kind of high quality output from streaming or lesser players. It's pricey but if you can afford it it's worth it.

This is a fantastic blu-ray player. It plays every type of disc, minus HDCD, of which there were only a few thousand cd titles coded in this format. It loads disc's extremely fast, and makes your music cd's sound even better! Plus, for streaming, it is incredibly good, granted I've got 866 mbps at my disposal. It's probably the best player you can get now that OPPO and Samsung have bowed out of producing 4K blu-ray players. I unequivocally give it 5 stars. I've had it for 1 month now and have had zero issues with it! I simply don't think you can go wrong. Plus it's connected to my Sony X950H 65 inch Bravia LCD TV with the same X1 Ultimate processor as their 85 inch Master Series! Bravo Sony!!!

If you are setting up a media room in your house, most likely you will buy top-of-the-line hardware and the furniture to enjoy the contents. While I believe any Blu-ray player or even a 4K Blu-ray player will do, here is a top-of-the-line player from Sony. Having used it for a few days with various contents, here are my opinions. The set up was easy. You can connect your Internet to this player through the ethernet cable or through the wireless signal. As long as you remember your password, if the wireless signal is encrypted, it should not take a network engineer to get this player going. There are two HDMI outputs on the back – the first one is for the television. By default, the video and audio are sent through the HDMI connection, but more expensive players, such as this one, has a separate audio-only output that can be connected to a soundbar or an amplifier. If that is what you are planning to do, you have to go through the setup menu to enable it for this purpose. If you have an HDR television (usually they are the 4K format as I am not aware of any 1080 P that are made nowadays that supports HDR signal), the player can be set to enable HDR for just about anything. This means regular Blu-ray movie can really look better with this player. The contrast and color saturation are higher - the picture looks snappier. I don't think it is overdone and it does not look artificial to me. Even a well-decoded DVD will look very good on your 4K television with this player. It does a great job of upscaling a DVD. I have an LG 4K HDR LCD television and if I step away to the end of a rather small room, a DVD looks good enough. A regular Blu-ray looks even better and 4K Blu-ray looks fantastic. I tried watching the identical movie Blu-ray versus 4K Blu-ray and I am embarrassed to say that I could not tell the difference. The upscaling from Blu-ray to 4K plus having HDR turned on while playing regular Blu-ray simply looks amazing. (When that happens, my television briefly displays "Dolby vision.") I connected an external hard drive, and later a thumb drive that has video files (MP4 format), and the player was able to play it, and upscale it to 4K plus HDR with ease. Video files from Youtube (at 1080p) look great. I created AVCHD movies (on a single layer DVD disk) using DVD Fab program. The player plays these this without any problem and did so beautifully. However, if I created the AVCHD disk with VSO program (ConvertXtoVideo), the player won't play. (Sony is known not to play all AVCHD created with this program.) I also tried Nero Video and it was able to play with the player. This information may not be important to most people but for some of us that would like to be able to play high resolution shorter video on single or dual layer DVD disc, this is something you probably want to know. DVD Fab can create 4K Blu-ray output. Those disks were able to play with no problem with this player. One thing you will notice though that the player is quite heavy. Sony boast about the way it is made with heavy chassis to eliminate vibration. The player weighs about eight pounds or so and I think it needs a really strong earthquake to shake it! If you have the amplifier, you will be able to take advantage of Dolby Atmos sound on many 4K Blu-ray. Now I want to talk about something that bugs me. For something that costs this much – why didn't Sony include an HDMI cable? The software that runs Netflix drives me crazy. It pauses to load the preview of almost all the movies when I was scrolling. If I hold down the key, it will of course skip to the next one until I let go the button and the screen goes blank for a second to load the preview. My Internet is 400 cable speed so there is no reason for any pauses like this. I realize all the buffer in the world will not hold all the previews. This can be hopefully corrected when the software or the firmware gets upgraded. Otherwise Netflix looks fantastic. Everything is converted to HDR format. I borrowed my brother's Amazon prime account, and its software doesn't load the preview so I was able to scroll very quickly without any problem. I think Netflix tried too hard to make it look fancy but if they are reading this, this needs to be corrected. So if you have money to spend on a top-of-the-line television that can take advantage of what this player can do, plus the sets of speakers and an amplifier (and a comfortable sofa), this is getting as close to a real movie theater as you can provide that you have good contents to feed it. I haven't been to a movie theater for years. Can you see why? The player comes with five years warranty which is quite unusual so I suppose it really is made to last. Yes, I rate it excellent, but only if you have everything else that it needs to work to its full potential. Don't buy an expensive Benz if you can't afford the premium gas!

It’s an OK unit a little bit much for myself being a older senior citizen. It works fine with 4K DVDs, Picture is incredible, a little finicky with Older Blu-ray DVDs and doesn’t work very well at all with my old DVDs that are 10-20 years old. Picture flashes on my new Q90R Samsung tv.

I saw reviews about faulty devices. Freezing/locking up. However, I have always had a good experience with Sony products and felt the timing was right for me to upgrade from a 7+-year-old Blu-Ray player. The first movie brought out all the details I had been missing. Remember that feeling you had the first time you watch a Blu-Ray movie? How clear the picture seemed? While Ultra HD brings that feeling again. The performance of the machine is amazing. Load times are seconds. The user interface is light and not overly complicated. I was not looking for streaming services here as I have that covered through my TV and other third-party devices. If you are looking for an easy to use, super powerful, extremely clear ultra HD blu-ray, strongly consider this option.

I've done a lot of research on finding a quality Blu-Ray Player to replace my OPPO and I am really not a fan of Sony. I just thought that they make cheap equipment and were overrated, I was wrong! After reading the reviews and lots of research, this product (Blu-Ray player) does the trick. For the amount of money that it cost, it's worth it. The sound quality is good along with the picture. Sony fooled me this time or they are finally making a great product.
