This is true. Dolby Vision must be manually activated/deactivated based on the content you are playing. If left on, then ALL content-- whether 1080p, 4K, SDR or HDR10-- is output as Dolby Vision. Sony's 800m2 and 1100ES are the only UHD players on the planet with this known "feature"; players from all other manufacturers support auto-detection. Since these Sony units have been on the market for more than a year, it seems unlikely this issue will ever be addressed by firmware update. For the record, I own an 800m2 but would have upgraded to the 1100ES if it did DV auto-detection. Instead, I settled on the 800m2 over other manufacturers because of its SACD and DVD-Audio capabilities. I hope that helps!
