  • QuestionWhat happens if you play an HDR-10 blu ray disc on the Dolby Vision setting? If you forget to switch the setting.

    Asked by ScottF.

    • Answer The answer to the question is... don't do it because the picture will look terrible. The colors will be clearly off the mark if you do that. I did that by mistake with the Sony UBP 800M2, which is the one right over this one, and the picture looked terrible, causing me to suspect something was wrong with the 4K disc. Come to find out, I didn't turn off DV, and the player was trying to do something to the disc that the disc wasn't going along with. So when I purchased this one, that's something you just have to remember to do. I wish they would put a auto setup for DV, but for whatever reason, it hasn't happened yet.

    Asked by MikeHoochie.

    • Answer Hello Person, Thank you for considering Sony products! We appreciate your inquiry about the UBP-X700/M's compatibility with external storage devices. The UBP-X700/M supports external hard disk drives (HDDs) up to 2TB formatted with the MBR (Master Boot Record) partition scheme and up to 4TB with the GPT (GUID Partition Table) scheme. Additionally, it supports USB flash drives up to 128GB formatted with FAT32, NTFS, or exFAT file systems. (sony.com) Please note that if your storage device has multiple partitions, only the first partition will be accessible. For optimal performance, we recommend using a Sony external USB HDD or USB memory. While third-party devices may work, full compatibility is not guaranteed. • QuestionIs this DVD player region free?

    Asked by GlobalGI.

    • Answer Hi GlobalGI, Thank you for reaching out regarding the Sony UBP-X700/M. This model is not a region-free player. Sony manufactures its Blu-ray and DVD players with specific region codes to ensure compatibility within designated geographic zones, and these settings cannot be altered. For units purchased in the United States and Canada, the player is classified as Region A for Blu-ray discs and Region 1 for standard DVDs. This means it is designed to play discs specifically coded for North America, South America, U.S. Territories, and select parts of East and Southeast Asia. If you have a collection of international discs from other regions, they will unfortunately not be compatible with this specific hardware. We appreciate your interest in Sony products. • QuestionCan this Blu Ray DVD player , play home made movies on DVD - discs?

    Asked by Anonymous.

It can play most recordable and rewritable disc formats, including DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, and DVD+RW. • QuestionIs the SONY UBP-X700/M DVD player that you sell, a region free player that will play PAL DVD discs ?

    Asked by Tony.

    • Answer Thank you for contacting Sony, Tony. The UBP-X700/M is NOT region-free for standard Blu-ray or DVD playback. It will only play discs that match the region code printed on the back of the unit (Region A for Blu-ray, Region 1 for DVD). All 4K UHD Blu-ray players, including the UBP-X700/M, are region-free for Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. This means you can play 4K UHD discs from any country. Sony does not manufacture or sell region-free or multi-region Blu-ray/DVD players. Any UBP-X700/U unit advertised as "region-free" has been modified by a third party, and such modifications are not supported or covered by Sony’s warranty.
