A:AnswerSorry. Unfortunately no. I have a few region B disc that I tried. it says unplayable. I believe they make a similar module that is region free. More expensive
A:AnswerI have not tried playing any MP4s yet with this one; (don't have any to) I'm guessing since most basic models support MP4s this one might--hopefully. To your other question you cannot operate it without the remote; at least I checked it out and couldn't do it.
A:Answer"Best" depends on your setup. For instance, I have a 4K 60 Hz HDR TV to go along with this player. It can use the Dolby Vision feature, and I only need to worry about cable bandwidth designed for 60Hz rather than 120Hz or an 8K cable. ie Anything with more than 18 Mbps will do.
"Most compatible" is answered easily enough with: Look for cables that are labeled "certified".
I personally bought Monster 4' 4K 21 Mbps HDR cables. (One from the player to TV, the other from the player's dedicated audio output to an outdated A/V receiver). They are certified, have the bandwidth I'll need, can be found easily enough online or at Target, and are relatively affordable. I believe Best Buy has something similar in spec and price.
A:AnswerI have not personally tried playing VCDs with mine (by the way I love mine, its a distinct difference in color vibrancy and just overall excellent detail) the list of playable formats in the X800M2 does not includes vcds however, it would not hurt to try. I have kept back some of my DVDs movies (which I cannot yet find in Blu Ray or 4K, and this player make these DVDs look like Blu Ray when I play them)
A:AnswerYou’ll need to connect to either an HDMI in port on a Surround Sound Amplifier or Sound Bar or a tuner that accepts a coaxial cable digital input. For best performance, HDMI is best.

A:AnswerYou should be able to connect this to your 1080P TV with an HDMI Cable. You can play all formats, Blu-Ray, Std DVD. You can also play 4K, but you won't have the True 4k experience. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerThis player does not offer an optical output.
Normally, the player will offer whatever audio coding is on your Blu-Ray disk to your TV, which will then decide the signal.
