• The internal optical drive of the Sony VAIO model (SVE14A27CXH) cannot be upgraded in the computer. You can use any brand Windows 8 compatible external optical drive with this model. If you replace the internal optical drive from third party service provider, it will void the limited warranty from Sony.

• The DVD drive can definitely be swapped out, just make extra sure that the Blu-Ray drive you get to replace it will be compatible. I don't know that this would void the Best Buy's warranty, but I'm guessing it would as it certainly voids Sony's.
