Hi DaveM, Thanks for sending your question. We're happy to clarify that for you! The WH-CH720N cannot use an optical connection. It is a Bluetooth wireless headphone and does not support optical audio input. If you want a wired connection, you can certainly use the included 3.5 mm audio cable to plug them into a standard headphone jack. This is a common analog connection, but it's not the same as an optical connection.
