“How do these work for phone calls? My primary need is for a blue tooth headset for my phone not for listening to music so my concern is for phone call usage. How well can other people hear you and how long can you use this for making phone calls in a day?”

I use them all the time for this function. I wouldn't recommend using them in an area where there's a large amount of ambient noise.

They are not the best I have ever used for phone calls but they do work fine. For instance the first time I talked to my wife with them, she said I sounded like I was on a speaker phone similar to using a landline on speaker and she said I wasn't that loud but I did have them under my collar at the time. In later conversations she has said nothing negative and even said that they do reduce some of the ambient surrounding noise compared to my wired earbuds (SONY MDRXB50AP) that I also love. If necessary you can hold the left side of the neckband that has the speaker near your mouth to help the sound be better for the other party you are talking to. I am so happy to not be confined by connection wires that I am satisfied with the phone call usage and I am extremely happy with the music sound, volume level and listening time! I am getting approx. 10 hrs of music listening on a single charge that probably takes 2 hrs thru my computer USB port.

I drive a tractor trailer and they work okay, even better if you hold the microphone area of the neckband close to your mouth. My wife told me I sounded like I was on a speakerphone, similar to a landline phone with speaker engaged. She also told me the ambient noise was not as severe as my wired headsets which sound louder, but include more of the surrounding noise too. If all you do is phone calls these may not be what you want but they sound so good for listening to music and have a very long usage time, nearly ten hours for me with music and a call or two. I work 12 hour shifts so I have tested this several times so far in my two weeks of ownership. Very, very comfortable too!

Instructions that came with it says on a full charge will operate up to 9 hours. Have not had a chance to try it for its full duration. Eventually that will come. I have no reason at this time to return it, I like it!
