The phone is compatible with ATT, T Mobile and Verizon I believe. I'm on a plan with T Mobile and we have 4 lines. My phone works great. Just make sure it's compatible with your provider. There is no need for activation just change the SIM card from your old phone to the new one, keep in mind the Sony Xperia XA2 uses the micro SIM card, if yours uses the big one you will have to go to your provider to see if they can give you the micro. I don't if they will charge you or will it be free. If you have the micro and the supported provider it should work without problems. Good luck.
