“I see in the pictures that an Apple Pencil will lay next to iPad then the whole case closes. My question: Does the Pencil just lay next to the iPad or is it secured with something? It just seems like it could slide one way or the other & fall out?”

• For the iPad Pro the pencil is magnetic, so it would be secure.

• It’s on a snug niche on the top of I pad. Completely covered by the case closure and with a lockable latch. The pencil itself is magnetically attached to the iPad and automatically charges when you charge the I pad

• the pencil 2nd Gen is magnetic so it sticks to the ipad, thats how it able to charge too
