“Will this case interfere with an external drive I plan to add that is meant to lay flush against the usb c ports? Without removing the case??I plan to buy one for added devices such as a projector using hdmi.”

The Smartshell Case leaves the USB C ports fully open so you can plug in accessories without removing the case. If an accessory is designed to sit completely flush against the side of the MacBook you may notice a little extra space because of the case edge but most standard cables and adapters will still connect without an issue.
