You can use the smartphone and the one without the wristband is larger.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can and I highly recommend buying the combo droid and wristband. I purchased the combined package and it works well both with the band and without. In addition the band works separately and has many games independent of bb-8.
