1. Very hot or not depending on your chosen setting- just like any other cooktop 2. Yes it will cycle to maintain the temperature you set ( see answer 1). 3. That all depends on the quality of your extension cord. In general I would recommend not using an extension cord as this can draw a lot of power on high. If you do use one keep it as short and heavy duty as possible.4. It is perfect for cast iron or stainless or induction rated cookware.
