“Can this be used for credit cards with a chip?”

• Hi! This reader will read a card with a chip, but through the magstripe on the back of the card. The Magstripe reader itself cannot read chips. If you are concerned about reading the chips on the cards themselves, then we would recommend the Contactless and Chip Reader. Thank you!

• Yes as long as there is a strip on the credit card to swipe the card. Square has another jack for using the chip.

• This particular one is for swiping only.. The company does make one for chip if preferred.

• Yes any card with or without a chip works on these machines

• Yes, you can use this model with chipped cards. As long as they have a magnetic strip, they can be swiped.
