• It's a guided story, but when you finish the game, you don't need to listen to the missions if you don't want to, Explore and have fun, amazing story, must buy!!!

• Free to roam but not like Red death Redemption.

• Pretty much a guided game, but you can venture off and fins things, but you eventually find your back to the guided path. Think Uncharted but in the Star Wars universe.

• More of an open world, you choose from 5 planets as you go and each is decently large, though not as massive as a full open world per se.

• The story progresses in a linear fashion, you can't do 'plot thing B' before you do 'plot thing A' - but most of the time you're free to roam around and explore the world, limited only by what upgrades/powers you have so far and which planets you have access to.

• It's somewhere inbetween. There are various worlds you can travel to, and you can attack them in whatever order you want, but areas will be inaccessible until you acquire certain abilities. This is how the game gates content so that you complete it in the order they want. It's also not really "open world" as there are mostly set paths for you to travel along. You can and will be doing a good amount of backtracking. It's an exploration-based game much like Metroid Prime in how it unfolds the world(s) for you.

• It is not “free roam” it is linear however it is more of a free linear as the worlds are not massive but leave enough exploration. Explorations close to but more expansive than uncharted.
