Hi Randal, It looks like the metal threaded portion is fixed and a rubberized stopper rotates down to meet a fixed spike at the bottom that captivates the rubber piece. So it looks like you can’t remove it. Sorry for the bad news. I’ll try to send photos. It is possible that the whole threaded rod might be able to be removed, but it is swaged in place so you might not be able to secure a new threaded rod in its place. Good luck!

I was able to remove the end, the screw pulled out. I went to a hardware store to get a screw threaded screw and a threaded connector to attach Monopod to tripod base.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi Randall, Sorry, the bottom screw cannot be removed. At least not that I can see. There is a rubber foot that moves up and down on that screw so the bottom of the tripod uses either the rubber foot or the spike (see attached pix). But it is made so the rubber foot does not come off, and the spike/screw appears to be glued in place. The rubber foot rotates, the screw does not, it is fixed. Dave
