The monopod measures 21.5 inches from end to end when collapsed in its bag.

The length of the box is how long your camera bag would need to be if you wanted to put it in a camera bag. Although it's lightweight, it doesn't feel cheap to me. The carrying case is fabric and not padded. I use the monopod as a handheld extension, with my GoPro 7 Black. I could put my GoPro in the carrying case along with the monopod and my camera charger, but I don't because it's not padded.
