• No. I bought 2 for my kids. The kids love them. The new ones, like swagtron, have stronger battery casings and don't overheat like the first hover boards.

• The first hoverboards that came out from China did that. Best Buy only sells good quality products to cover their own reputation as well. I have never heard of any problems with these. Also I recommend getting the warranty extended which alleviates may of worrying about it having a short life after spending all that money. If it goes bad they give you a new one simple love it but I haven't had any problems so good to go
