The cameras can be remotely accessed and controlled using the Swann Security application for free right out of the box. Swann does offer subscription plans if you need extended warranties or added features for storage. • A:Answer Hello Bob. Thank you for your question. Each camera in this kit includes a 60ft(18m) Cat5e Ethernet Cable. However, you can extend this to a longer length if you wish to. Swann sells extension cables in 100ft(30m) & 200ft(60m) lengths under the codes SWNHD-30MCAT5E and SWNHD-60MCAT5E. Please note, the maximum length of POE cable for ALL NVR cameras is up to 300ft/100m run of CAT5. This eliminates the need for a separate power source, as the cable connects directly to a PoE switch or NVR that supplies power. This setup simplifies installation and reduces cable clutter. Q: QuestionI have two swann NVR systems, one came with the wired cameras that have the speaker on the base(2 way talk), the second system is the 2TB HDD NVR that has 1 way cameras, can i install the 2 way cameras into the system that came with 1 way talk?

• A:Answer Hello MelD.If you were to record 24/7 from all 16 cameras onto the 2TB hard drive, you'd have about 1-2 days of recording capacity. Once the hard drive is full, the oldest footage will automatically be overwritten by new recordings. We usually recommend setting cameras to record based on motion detection, as continuous recording can result in hours of unnecessary footage. However, you can mix and match settings based on your preference—for example, you can set one camera to record 24/7 and the others to record only when motion is detected. Yes, the video encode type is set by default to H.265. I hope this helps. LV - Swann Team

• A:Answer Hi Ray. The DVR8-8075 model is very old now and has long been discontinued (it was last manufactured around 8-9 years ago). I would recommend looking at an NVR system these days as the price has come down considerably over the years and they offer a wide range of features and the network cables make them easier to install compared to DVR systems. If you'd like a more affordable 4K option then this Master Series NVR you've posted this question on is a good option. If you'd like something with more features, metal camera cases etc then Swann also offer more premium 4K and 6K options too. -SD, Swann Team

Q: QuestionDoes the DVR require a password to be entered every time you use it? If so, can the password be turned off ? And how long of password is required? I have another system that requires a lengthy password every time you use the playback feature.

• A:Answer Helo KA006. This system includes True Detect technology which detects heat. When on the highest True Detect Motion Sensitivity settings. More intense heat sources (e.g. vehicles) may detect a little further away and less intense heat sources (e.g. pets/small animals) may need to be a little closer before they are detected. The range/sensitivity of the motion sensor can be adjusted via the True Detect Motion Sensitivity settings bar in the app. The Smart Alerts feature which specifically detects pets, vehicles and people is only available for our WiFi devices with a Secure Plan +. You will need to wire the NVR to your router if you wish to view the system on your phone via the Swann Security app, or for the NVR to receive software updates which Swann may release from time to time. If you don't need to view your system on a phone and are happy just to view it locally from a screen connected to the NVR instead, then it doesn't need any connection to the internet.
