Hello KJ. Please note, The nature of PIR sensors is that they detect warm moving objects. Given that glass is quite a good insulator, it actively blocks this heat from the camera's PIR sensor, so the sensor cannot detect motion even though you can see movement happening. The IR lights on the front of the camera reflect back at the lens when behind glass and make it very difficult to see what is happening outside a window. Therefore we do not recommend placing the cameras behind a window or pane of glass. Please click on the link below for instructions on how to turn off the lights from the Swann Security App. https://support.swann.com/hc/en-us/articles/19010949664409-How-to-manually-enable-Deterrent-feature-on-V8-Recorders-via-Main-Menu-and-Swann-Security-app For further assistance, please visit our support page or contact us over the phone. https://support.swann.com/s/ LV - Swann Team
