Hello! SWFT's e-bikes are tested to UL2849, which puts them at an IPX4 rating, which is splash proof / water-resistant. The bikes are tested for safety for wet road conditions, but we do not recommend long exposure to water. It is recommended that your e-bike is stored in a dry location to prevent water damage to electronic components on your e-bike.

The combination of pouring rain and spray coming up from the fat tires absolutely soaked every part of the bike and its components. As soon as I got home I tried to dry it out as best as I could (and oiled the chain, etc.). This was a few months back and I haven't had any trouble since then. I would say the bike got as wet as it could possibly get short of being submerged, and even without protection added for any of the electronic components, it did okay... unless there is unseen 'damage' that will shorten the overall life-span of the electronics of the bike, which I can't yet know. I would always try to avoid an incident like this, but it's good to know that if you should get caught in a down-pour the bike will not instantly short-circuit, burst into flames or quietly die.
