• This DVD player does not have batteries and needs to be plugged into either a wall outlet or car.

• Yes, you have a AC adapt to plug into a wall. I have used it multiple times as a mini dvd player on trips for my children to use once we get to our place. There is a little stand on the back of the unit to prop up the unit.

• I don't believe batteries were an option. It came with a standard plug along and a car 'lighter' plug.
