Typically you need a burner device and a program that allows for decoding encryption in order to copy movies that are copyrighted. To just record burnt DVDs doesn't require such software, but movies are protected and require special software. The best devices for this process are the stackable copiers. They will copy a movie in about ten minutes. They cost around $150, but if you're doing much copying, they pay for themselves quickly.
