QuestionI'll ask the same question. Is this really the old model lens? According to the part number it is the old model - which seems weird. The new model would be AFA041N700.

- Answer After doing a ton of research, I've figured that this is definitely not the G2 model. I was moments away from purchasing this lens until I noticed it wasn't G2. It's very weird that BBY wouldn't have the G2 lens for purchase.

- Answer Your Nikon can accept any Nikon F mount lenses. For a full frame camera you will generally buy fx or full frame lenses.
