- Answer This Chill Mat Laptop Cooling System with 4-Port USB Hub is mostly made of plastic materials. Some of the fittings may be metal but are covered by plastic. It also uses rubber pads to help prevent the laptop from slipping.

- Answer It does not cool my laptop like my old Targus did. It only has one fan speed and you can barely feel the air movement. Not like the old Targus that had two fan speeds and you could really feel the wind on the high speed. The lower portion of my laptop (where the touch pad is and each side of it) stays too hot with this new Targus (The Chill Mat Plus with four usb ports). Read the reviews on Google search for the best cooling chill mats. Also important besides the air output quantity, is how effectively it is distributed through the grill or vent design so that reaches all areas of the bottom of your laptop. Hopes this helps.

QuestionIs there the same Chill Mat with 3.0 USB available?I have a new laptop with 3.0 USB ports, does Targus have this available or in the makings? Or is there another brand chill pad with USB 3.0? I have a 17" display Toshiba.

- Answer Yes. The one I purchased uses one of the laptops USB ports. From there are 3 available to the back of the Chill Mat. All you have to do is use the USB's port on the back and it will provide power to peripheral items that you want to hook-up to your laptop. This is the only product I could find that does this. P.S. They give you 4 USB's on the back of the Chill Mat..
