I don't think anything protects an iPad from a fall. However, depending on how you have the case, whether it is banded closed or not, will really determine its protection. It is a study, yet lightweight case. If the flap is closed and the strap on, it should be very well protected, edges included. The iPad sits within a harder plastic barrier to protect the edge. But if case is open, depending on how iPad lands, will determine screen damage. That is why I still put a Zagg HD Glass screen protector on mine.
